This year The Rancho Bernardo Community Council sponsors the 12th Annual Patriotic Pet Contest! The contest was emceed for the first 5 years by the late Larry Himmel, long-time Rancho Bernardo resident and TV Channel 8 personality. In 2015 the Rancho Bernardo Community Council recognized Larry Himmel for his years of emceeing the event by renaming it "The Larry Himmel Patriotic Pet Contest". Channel 8 News staff always covers this event and puts us on the air. The staff also provides a volunteer emcee to conduct the contest.
Do you have the most Patriotic Pooch? Dress up your pooch, kitty, goose or other leashed family member in their favorite red, white & blue ensemble and join us for the Spirit of the Fourth's Patriotic Pet Contest. Dogs, rabbits and even birds show off their patriotic outfits and accessories during the Patriotic Pet Contest at Webb Park in Rancho Bernardo. All pets must be properly restrained at all times.
Registration is at 8:30 a.m., with the contest and judging beginning promptly at 9:30 a.m.
